When I Accelerate Too Fast

So, recently I have faced wanting to accelerate through so many goals in personal habit changes, amnd in building Routes Connected Collective as a brand. It is a problem many face, but we need to understand why we do it, and how to slow ourselves down!

I am presently struggling with having moved too fast to accomplish many things at once, and it burnt me out. I was falling into unhealthy habits personally, and it cost me overall. When you move too fast, you'll feel the burn out hit you too hard. You'll feel unaccomplished, resort to temporarily making yourself feel better, but all at the cost of sleep, mental, and physical health. For me, I realized that when I was getting bad acid reflux, losing sleep, being burnt out and never wanting to use half my potential at work. You'll realize it when you make excuses, when you noticeably change whether it be weight or other factors. And when that realization hits, the best thing you can do is encourage positive habits in your life. But, here's the thing, PACE YOURSELF! Too much change at once will do more harm than good, and you'll go in circles. Set yourself a time frame, not too strict or too generous. By that, I mean don't expect the change in a week, but don't make excuses and hit a timeline that stretches months, to a year.

Business wise, I had this amazing idea, the two podcasts I am starting as projects of Routes Connected Collective. I got so ahead of myself wanting to figure out future avenues that will follow, (ie.) how we'll expand going forward. And I got so excited trying to plan all this at once, do it so quick, on top of all my personal change/growth. And I hit a brick wall, I stopped. I allowed myself to, and that is leading to this post. It's okay to run when you can run, but even the marathon athletes pace themselves. You need to establish your running pace, and I do not mean a mile time. It's good to professionally want growth, to envision it, to form a plan for it. But if you do not pace yourself, it's going to take twice as long while the work will be sloppier than if you slow down! So establish that plan, and reach out to me, or even better, someone who is in the shoes you hope to be walking in!

So, I want you to think about either way, personal or professional. What is your running pace? How do you set it to be efficient? What is efficiency for me, and how quickly do we step it up as we go! For me, I am giving myself the month of February to just slow down, to establish that pace and go on vacation soon! I want you to know that it's okay to get running, I do too, but know when to slow it down a touch. And remember this too, JUDGEMENT does not come in a positive/constructive form, from someone who is sitting at a red light, back where you were coming from. Positive/Constructive criticism, will come from those who have walked that same path, run that same or a similar race, who are in the shoes you hope to be walking in. Because, they understand how hard it can be, and all have unique stories that might have key aspects you'll relate to along the way! Learn that difference in life, in general. It might be hard, but understanding who you need to take criticism from, and who to tune out can be a major step in progression with life. After all, you will most likely form habits and personality traits of the FIVE people you spend the most time around!

Wishing you all luck, and thank you for being here! If you need to reach out about where you're going, or where you've been, to better work through life. Please reach out, to me or someone you see fit in such cases. If you do reach out to me, email: damienf@routesconnected.com

The Space Between Where I Am and Where I’m Going

So, as the title states, we're establishing the idea of focusing on "the space between where i am and where I'm going." However that applies to your life, lets ask ourselves a question, and maybe you can relate to where I am! Q: "What if the space between destinations isn't a problem to solve?"     To elaborate on this, I have started a wellness campaign called the " Rest Stops Campaign ," which perfectly fits in with this idea. That "in between" space, isn't always a problem to solve. If you compared life to following a GPS to a new destination. If you were on a road trip, you take rest stops, which are like the in between points of life. It's where you pause, reflect, establish what you need to go forward, maybe take time to rest! Go learn more about it on the web page!     I find myself currently at an in between space in life. A space where, aspects of my life are frustrating to a point that I want an easy way out of...

Why I’m Taking the Long Way Through

Life is interesting, at some point you realize that speeding through life, isn't the same as progressing through life! I realized that over the last five to six years, through various life experiences. Twenty twenty was part of that, the covid lockdown, I had just turned nineteen and bought myself a bucket list car. Being on the other side of things now, about to be twenty five, I knew that I wasn't progressing through life the way I needed to, just speed running to the point where life was "better." The thing is, I had no established idea of what "better" was for me, or how I'd get there, I had no direction in life!      Rushing through life, caused me to continually feel mentally at unrest, never was too stable. I never gave myself full attention to find resolution. It absolutely drained me creatively, and at twenty two, having lost a close family member, it all built up into lack of physically being there for myself.      In the end, ...
